South Fork LaManchas

2009 Updates coming soon....check back often as we add pictures and info from this season!

Thank you for your interest in our dairy goat herd. We have been raising dairy goats since 1980, our first goats being a 4-H project for our youngest son, Richie. Our herd consisted strictly of Nubians until 1988 when we added our first LaMancha doe. It didn't take long for them to steal our hearts and take over the entire barn! Our herd now consists totally of LaManchas. This is our 23rd year on DHIR test, and we have had the top milk and butterfat LaMancha in the state of Colorado for the past 19 years.

We have been on a strict CAE prevention program since 1988, and we will continue to do so because it works! Every kid is taken at birth - every birth is attended! All our kids are raised on heat treated colostrum and bottle fed pasteurized milk. In addition the entire herd is vaccinated for tetanus and entero and dewormed regularly. We feed the highest quality alfalfa available, a 16% protein grain mix, and free choice of salts and minerals.

2008 has been a great year so far for our herd. Although we were not able to travel to the National Show this year, we have attended several local shows and are very pleased with how well our girls, and boys, have done. We finished the show season with 11 GCH's, 10 Res. GCH, 7 BOB and 9 BIS wins, under 6 different judges, with 11 different animals!! Silhouette easily finished her championship, Confetti surprised us all by stealing the whole show at our club show in June. Carley, one of our young Courage daughters, was BJDIS at that show and Courage was BBIS the same day! Cate has been BOB, BDIS and BUIS several times this show season. She is looking better than ever! Temptation, Tease, Carley and Carmel all have their dry legs, with Temptation being 2X BJDIS, and Carley and Carmel both being 1X BJDIS. We ended the show season with a bang, finishing both Shadow Dancer and Confetti!! We have also enjoyed having time to do some non-goat things this summer, something we have not been able to do for so many years that I cannot remember.

A $100.00 deposit is required on all orders, with the balance due upon notification of birth. If the balance is not received within 2 weeks the kid will be offered to someone else. We do reserve the right to our choices of replacement animals, so, if possible, please select a first and second choice kid. If both choices of kids are unavailable, your deposit is refunded. NO refunds of deposits on canceled orders. For animals ordered after birth we do not guarantee these prices. We will take deposits on bucks out of first fresheners, but must make our final decision on that sale after the doe has freshened. We will not sell any kid unless we feel it is of outstanding quality. This does not mean that all kids sold will be grand champions, but should compete well. If any animal is found to be genetically unsound or infertile it will be replaced, contingent upon receiving a vet’s signed statement that the problem was of genetic origin. All shipping costs and health certificates are the buyer’s responsibility.

Thank you to all of the breeders who purchased animals from us in early 2009. We are currently sold out but will be updating breeding info and pictures of new milkers and 2009 kids in the near future. Please check back often for more updates and feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.
